BLEUBIRD VINTAGE: 9 Things I Liked-A Year in Review

Bleubird Vintage--A Year in Review
With today being the last day of 2009, we have our final "A Year in Review" list from Miss James of BLEUBIRD VINTAGE.

  • Saddle shoes: best shoes ever in my opinion. Glad they came back. I did a DIY earlier this year on how to make your own saddle shoes.
  • Olivia Bee: The beautiful photography of this young lady is so captivating. I am simply smitten.
  • Records: I expanded my record collection more than ever! I have acquired so many great ones.
  • Seeing Jenny Lewis: Jenny Lewis was and will always be one of my favorite live performances. Her voice is beautiful and her lyrics are magic.
  • Flea markets and thrift stores: This year has seriously been my year when it comes to vintage treasures for my little bird house. I hope 2010 is the same.
  • Pandas: They seem to have been everywhere this year and I couldn't be happier. The panda was my favorite animal as a child and I had the largest panda collection ever! In 2010 I may have to have my mom dig through her storage and send me all of them!
  • BOWS!!! I am so happy that bows came back and channeled my inner child.
  • Fifi Lapin: I love her simple bunny art work dresses to the nines in brands like Chanel, Marc Jacobs, and Zac Posen. Brilliant.
  • Making pom poms: I was obsessed this year and created several projects using them, including a wreath and necklace/scarf. So fun!

THE NEVERENDING STORY--A Year in Review
Today's "A Year in Review" list comes from Icelandic lady Saga of THE NEVERENDING STORY.

  • John William Waterhouse: I went to the exhibition this summer in London and I got tears in my eyes. So romantic and pretty!
  • London: I moved to London this year to study photography and I have been getting my work published all around the world, like in Dazed & Confused, Dealer de luxe, etc. So exciting!
  • Kron by Kronkron heels: They are def the obsession of the year! Every girl needs to have a pair! I got two pairs already :) They are comfy and very detailed and...just amazing...! :)
  • Having amazing adventures with my friends: something I love. Me and my best friends in Iceland sometimes drive out in the country and take photos in beautiful clothes. Sometimes I feel like Peter Pan, I never want to grow up!
  • Pretty underwear: How adorable are these knickers?
  • Cameras: I take most of my photos with my film cameras, but my boyfriend gave me a new digital camera Canon 5D.
  • Fever Ray: One of my fav albums this year was this album. The song When I Grow Old has been on repeat since I first heard it!
  • Man Ray: I really like his work. I came across this beautiful video he made here. I love it! So beautiful!
  • Iceland: My home country. Since moving to London, I miss it a bit, miss the fresh air and the beautiful nature. I recommend you guys visit Iceland one day, you'll be amazed :)

Notebookdoodles: 9 Things I Liked-A Year in Review
Hello everyone! I hope you all are well.

I'm back from my short blogging break with another "A Year in Review" list by notebookdoodles. If you haven't been on her blog, do check it out and be prepared to swoon.

  • New York: I was there for a month and was completely blown away by it!! The Jay Z and Alicia Keys song "Empire State of Mind" was also blasting everywhere while I was there. It was the perfect soundtrack for the trip.
  • Handmade Mini Books: I started making these recently and I have a feeling it will be my new hobby.
  • Fuji Instax: Event though it's not the real Polaroid, it still is instant. And even though it's not square, it still is pretty awesome!
  • Alexa Chung's Style: I love the way she dresses, so effortless and basic but with a twist.
  • Doodling Quotes: I have been doing this for a while but I think it was only this year that I started to mix it with my photos. It turned out pretty well.
  • Proenza Schouler PS1 Bag: To die for. That's all I can say. I want it and I need it!!
  • Frankie Photo Album: I was lucky enough to contribute to this very first volume. It is such a beautiful book.
  • Making lists: It helps you get uncluttered. It also helps when you're bored. There's so many lists that you can do, not just the one that helps remind you on what "to-do".
  • Chanel Nail Polish: Absolute love. They can do no wrong.

SoBinique: 9 Things I Liked-A Year in Review

SoBinique: 9 Things I Liked--A Year in Review

Today's "A Year in Review" list comes from SoBinique.

  • Started a blog: I started blogging last October and I'm so glad I did! It's really addictive though...
  • Paris: The city of my dreams. I visited Paris two times this year and still can't get enough of it! How I would love to live there...
  • Analogue photography: Though I really like my digital SLR I still prefer to work with my analogue cameras. I'm planning to make a little darkroom to develop my own pictures.
  • Flowers: I love flowers so much that I recently decided to buy myself flowers weekly.
  • Books: I've always been reading a lot, but awhile ago when my TV didn't work for a few weeks, I started reading even more. I love to get absorbed in a good book.
  • My publications: I started this year with a publication of some of my styling work in Dutch Elle. It's really cool to see your own work in a magazine.
  • Macarons: I think 2009 was the year of the macarons. :) I've seen so many (pretty) pictures of them everywhere and I still can't get enough of them!
  • Flow: A new Dutch feel-good magazine with pretty little gifts in it like wrapping paper and pretty little postcards. It's a gorgeous magazine! They have a Dutch website where you can download some cute stuff.
  • Tim Walker: His work is perfect and such an inspiration for me. I buy every magazine his work is in. His book 'Pictures' was my christmas present last year and it inspired me lots of times in 2009 and will definitely inspire me again in 2010!

  • Image credits: Flow Magazine picture from here. All other pictures from her blog.

Oh, French!: 9 Things I Liked-A Year in Review

Oh, French: A Year in Review

This "A Year in Review" list comes from Katherine over at Oh, French!. Check out her blog if you haven't already, it's filled with many many pretty things.

  • Friends: I've made so many friends, via Flickr & Blogger. I've also really and honestly 'found' my self-confidence this year. Friends are the greatest
  • The seasons: Okay, yes, they happen every year, but every year they never fail to awe and astound me! They're always so beautiful and perfect.
  • Knitting: I learned how to knit this year. It's so fun and so much less of a hassle than sewing
  • TOAST: I just discovered this lovely brand for myself this past autumn. All their pieces and the brand itself have such a beautiful feel and atmosphere. If only they weren't so expensive (and across the ocean)!
  • Parc Jean-Drapeau: Gosh, I love that park. It's a little hill-ish forest, but it's so charming! I haven't gone yet this winter, it must look so pretty, all blanketed with snow. The park people even wrap some of the trees with fairy lights that turn on after dark!
  • Braids: Everyone loves braids, right? They're the best things on bad hair days-and good hair days. And formal occasions. And just anytime, really.
  • Frances Hodgson Burnett: I read The Secret Garden & A Little Princess for the first time last spring, and they literally, instantly became my favourites.
  • Flickr: It feels like I've been taking photos forever! It's so fun and, after a bit, you start to see everything from a photographic point of view, and I often think: 'That would make a great photo.'
  • My blog: Oh, French! isn't even a year old! I love it, just having a place to write and collect things that I love. I've met so many amazing & sweet people though it, and it's such fun to feel like you're a part of a community, even if it's not a real, physical sort of community.

Much Love: 9 Things I Liked-A Year in Review

    Much Love--A Year in Review

With 2009 coming to an end, I saw it fitting to do "A Year in Review" series. The first "A Year in Review" comes from Anna of Much Love. Over the next few days, I'll post some more lists from a few lovely ladies featuring 9 things they liked in 2009.

  • Chocolate brownies: One of the things I learnt how to bake this year were chocolate brownies. Yum!
  • 1920s style: I find myself being drawn to a lot of 1920s fashion this year. Perhaps watching Coco Avant Chanel had something to do with it.
  • Bright tights: It takes a little extra courage for me to wear them, but I love fun bright tights.
  • Photography: Any of my regular blog readers would know that I have a fast-growing obsession with cameras and photography, especially film photography
  • Polaroid camera: After thrifting a pack of polaroid film in June, I just had to get a polaroid camera too!
  • Lula: My favourite magazine of '09. I got issue #8 for my birthday.
  • Cocoon: I saw the French band, Cocoon at a concert and thought they were simply adorable.
  • Library: These are some books I got from my local library. My new year's resolution was to read more (I did!).
  • Postcard swaps: I did some postcard swaps with some fellow bloggers this year. Receiving mail is so much fun!

  • Image credits: Coco Avant Chanel, Cocoon, and postcards. The rest are all pictures of Anna's.
