Isn't the Dace Fall Winter 2010 lookbook video magnificently dreamy?? It has a certain melancholic beauty to it which is very eerie, but I love it. (I've got goose bumps!)
I love the fogginess, the haunting music, the beautiful blue tones of the location.

What is it about polaroids that make them so magical?

I am ashamed to admit I've never taken a polaroid picture in my life. I really want a polaroid camera, but I'm just wondering is any particular camera better than another? I saw one for $10 at a thrift shop once, but didn't know if it worked or not, so I didn't buy it (which I really regret now!).

P.S. Read about how you can now buy polaroid film (via Daydream Lily)

P.P.S. Totally cute polaroid proposal!

Golden light part II

Golden light part II
Remember my photos from this post? Well, these are more shots from the same photo shoot.

The last one has had no editing whatsoever. I started to edit it, then realized that it looked better before I put it into Photoshop. But then I feel kind of bad... that the picture's inferior in some sort of way because it hasn't been prettified (can you believe that's a real word?!). Like it's missing something the other photos aren't. But maybe it's a good thing if your photo is good enough to not need Photoshop? Anyway, do you ever feel that way about editing?

ALSO: I am looking for new models to do photo shoots with! So if you live in the San Francisco area or are planning to visit sometime soon and think you are the right look for my style of photography, please email me with a headshot & full length shot of yourself! Or else if you know of someone or have a friend that would be perfect, please email me too!

Anyway, tell me what your favorite(s) are! My favorite is the first one, then sometimes it's the last one, but mainly the first one.

Monday Mosaics

Monday Mosaics

I think this is my absolute favorite type of photography. Delicate with soft hues, fragile and emotional. I think this is the most beautiful. Although I've been really into more edgy, high-fashiony stuff recently. But this type of photography was the first to take my breath away and my heart will always belong to it :)

What about you? Do you like this type of photography best or something else?

P.S. Today is the last day to enter the BetaBoutique giveaway!

What I do in my spare time

Just a silly video of me, really.

How was your weekend? I saw Alice in Wonderland (and I know this may not be the popular view) but aside from the costume design, I really didn't like it too much.

Other than that, I've been procrastinating and drinking copious amounts of green tea.

Have you ever looked at the sky and watched the birds flying, watched them moving left and right, weaving in and out of trees, as if they were dancing? Birds are such beautiful creatures.

The first picture reminds me of an elegant Mad Hatter tea party. Have you guys seen the Alice in Wonderland movie? I still haven't yet, but I'm probably going to this weekend. To be honest, I'm not all that excited. I just don't think it'll be as magical as the book.

I used to build forts when I was younger. I would grab a bunch of chairs from the kitchen and use them to prop a bed sheet up. Then I would crawl inside and read. Sometimes I would wake up really early in the morning, before everyone else woke up and crawl inside my fort. It seemed so peaceful and safe there. Did you build forts too?

I stumbled upon this picture a couple of weeks ago, but I thought the idea was so cute, I just couldn't resist posting it. Do you like to read? I love reading! I used to devour entire books in one day when I was younger, but now it's hard to make time to read. The book store is one of my favorite places to be.

My favorite books are The Glass Castle, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and The House on Mango Street. I'm currently reading Half Broke Horses by Jeanette Walls (same author who wrote The Glass Castle) and I'm loving it! I love to read memoirs and peer into other peoples' lives. What are your favorite books? I'm always up for book suggestions!

When I was at the Blog Out Loud event, her little goodies were in the swag bags. I got a blue cameo cookie that was so pretty I didn't want to eat it! So right before I ate it, I took this picture:
    SweetAmbs
I think my favorite of hers are the cameo cookies. They have a certain elegance about them. They all are pretty amazing, though. I've tried decorating my cookies like that, but the designs always seem to come out in a big blob!

*Note: The SweetAmbs Etsy shop is not currently open, but you can see what she used to have in her shop here. You can also check out her blog here.

That quote by far is my favorite from My Fair Lady. It's not famous or anything, but I just love it.

The girl has such a captivating look... her eyes are so beautiful and she has such an innocent, sweet little face... as if she's always lived in a garden :)

Hello lovelies! How are you today?
Mondays are always rush days, so I thought these photos were nice and peaceful to take a little time to catch our breath.

I'm heading to the airport early this morning (I had to wake up at 3:00 am!). My flight is at 6:30 am. As much as I love visiting with family, I can't wait to go home and get back into my usual routine.

Do you like to travel? I do, but sometimes I wish I could skip the hassle of packing, going to the airport/going through security, and flying. In a couple of hours, this will all be over and I'll be at home!

    Clashing patterns and skeleton keys

    Blogged 3/19/10

My mom and I flew in to Florida last night to visit my grandmother. My dad is on a business trip, so we have to pick him up from the airport today. My grandfather recently passed away, so we are here to attend the funeral service.

This is my first time writing a blog post on a PC... and a PC with slooowww Internet at that! Needless to say, I won't be able to update my Twitter or reply to comments much for the weekend :( But maybe this forced Internet-less weekend will be good for me.

Anyway, enough sadness! I've been inspired by all the vintage photos and trinkets my grandmother has on the walls (she has an entire wall of skeleton keys!!). Also, the bed in the guest room has these really cheery floral pattern bed sheets which I am in love with. I want to make a stop motion video so bad, I really hope I have enough time!

Bow ties, soft light, out of focus, romance. Loooove.

I've always thought it would be fun to do wedding photography. Your clients (for the most part) must be cheery and sweet to work with. But the thing that would stress me out is that your concept has to work because the shoot is a one-shot deal (especially if you're doing wedding day shots). Any wedding photographers out there?

    Neurotica S/S 10 Lookbook
I'm loving British label Neurotica's S/S 10 lookbook entitled 'Week of Wonders'. This collection features whimsical prints and colors, and textures. The patterns were all hand drawn and printed in London.

I really like the circus-y background colors and the braids. I wonder how you do braids like that... The socks with the heels are a nice touch too. I tried to pick a favorite outfit, but couldn't decide! I really like the dress on the upper right side and the one right below it too, but they all are so lovely!

    Her underwater graces

Everything looks so graceful underwater, so peaceful. I'd love to try an underwater photo shoot sometime, but I'm not sure how I'd execute it. Forgive me for sounding amateur, but what type of equipment is needed for an underwater shoot?

P.S. The winner of the Flavanilla Jewelry giveaway is Ko of Toast and Nutella. Congrats girl! Please email me your postal address so that we can ship out your necklace!
