AGUJAS CROCHET EQUIVALENCIAS MM.

Gracias madre, siempre amiga, siempre amante.

Oh film, you've captured my heart

I love film photography. A lot. Which is ironic because I hardly ever use film. Digital's just easier I guess. But it still doesn't replace film.
Oh film film film
Oh film film film
There's something about film, the way it captures light (ha here I go with lighting again!) and digital does not come remotely close to competing.

Click on photos for sources. Second and last photo sources unknown. Please comment if you know. Such a shame because I just love the last one. Everything about it-the shadows, her face, her eyes-is just perfect. The more I stare at it, the more I love it.

I've made a goal to incorporate the use of film more in my photo shoots. So I'm going to use black and white film in my next photo shoot with Kelcie! I'm a little bit nervous because I hope it comes out okay. I really don't like the idea of not having the instant gratification of seeing what pictures you just took. But I guess with anything worthwhile, you have to be patient.

Aubrey says hello!

This is my dog, Aubrey. Yes, I know I've posted about her before, but I'm a bit of a crazy dog lady, so just bear with me here!

She was looking so cute on my bed yesterday, I took these pictures of her. I have 375 pictures of her saved on my computer! Does this qualify as certifiably nuts? Perhaps...

I really do wish Google Translate would help me out more in understanding the Japanese, but alas. It took me so long to figure out how to navigate the website. I started clicking on random links and came across these clothes. I'm not even sure if they have a lookbook or if I somehow missed it.

Sometimes I think you would lose all respect for me as a fashion blogger (not really fashion blogger, more like occasional fashion blogger I guess). Like yesterday, I was out all morning and early afternoon in the rain (seriously San Francisco, when's the rain gonna stop?). When I got home, all I could think about was shedding my wet clothes and climbing into my lovely grey sweatshirt and sweatpants combo. So that's what I wore for the duration of the afternoon and slept in. And that's what I'm writing this post in this morning too! So stylish :) I need some comfy and pretty clothes!

P.S. Can you tell I like floral patterns? :)

Lavender is one of my favorite colors! When I was little and people asked me what my favorite color was, I'd always say lavender because I didn't want to come across too girly and say pink (even though I really really liked pink)!

Anyway, the photographer is from Lithuania which I think is pretty amazing and such a faraway place (for me, at least!). I wonder what it's like there... probably not too much different from where I live I guess.

P.S. The giveaway winner of the Embellished by Jessica giveaway is (drum roll please...) comment #80: Sabrina Holly Vintage! Congrats :) Please email me with your postal address so that Jessica and I can get you your print.

Love the dreamy aesthetic of these beautiful shots. The colors and lighting are just lovely (ha, it's always about colors and lighting for me!) and what pretty girls too! I'm very happy because the model (in the second two pictures-Jessica Jean) happens to live relatively close to me (2 hours away) and I'd love to do a photo shoot with her... I'm thinking maybe something by the beach.

Reminds me of Little House on the Prairie. Those used to be my favorite books; my mother would read them to me before I went to bed. I remember thinking of how even the youngest of the sisters, Carrie-who was ten-was so much older than me! How things have changed!

I love Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. So many great quotes (although this is my favorite)! Gene Wilder, who played Willy Wonka in the original movie, used to live down the street from me. Of course I never saw him or anything and I don't think it was his main residence. But it was still fun to drive by and think "Gene Wilder could be there right at this moment!"

Interesting fact: This quote was not originally from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, it was from a poem named Ode written by English poet Arthur O'Shaughnessy. Maybe you already knew that. Maybe you didn't (I didn't!). Guess you learn a new thing everyday :)

A few days ago, Cecilia, a fellow San Francisco-based photographer (not that I would exactly call myself a photographer) contacted me about her work. One visit to her website and my oh my, it was so gorgeous, I just had to share it with y'alls.

The way she plays with props and lighting evokes a sense of nostalgia and vintage. Did I mention she did an entire Amélie-themed shoot?! Inspires me to make my favorite movies come to life in a photo shoot.

Check out her website here and blog here.

What are you lovelies up to this weekend? Tonight I'm going pottery painting with a friend. On Friday nights, they give you free studio fee if you show up in your PJ's!

I've been having major house envy of SoBinique's lovely abode, and I'm not the only one! Laura of See Hear Say posted about her insane decorating skills as well. Isn't the neutral color palette just gorgeous? Very simple, very beautiful.

I'd love to have just one room like this, never mind a whole house! I doubt I'd be able to keep it clean, though. I wonder how she does it...

P.S. I just realized that today is Earth Day! Happy Earth Day, everyone :)

Exactly where we're from

Some photos of mine I have somehow overlooked and never edited.

I have HUNDREDS of photos on my computer that I've forgotten about/never paid much attention to and now browsing through them all, there's some undiscovered shots that I actually really like! I'm thinking of setting aside a day to just go through them all and edit.

I'm also really lazy and never got film developed from like four months ago. Just think, there can be some of my best shots lying in the film canister, waiting to be discovered! I think I'll go and get the film developed this week.

I'm going to do another shoot with Kelcie soon! Something a little different than my usual style, but hopefully it will come out just as good! And how can you ever find out if you don't experiment?
