Oh and one last thing: As I was checking other people's blogs, I noticed mine was looking a little shabby, so anyone who wants to design a new header and/0r layout for me, feel free. I tried designing a header myself, but failed miserably, so if you want to submit a design to me, please contact me via my blog email, which is posted in the sidebar. I really like Daydream Lily's new layout, so something along those lines.

Thanks guys! It's great to be back! I'll update you more on what I did while I was on hiatus, and also, I have so many awards to catch up on, but let's leave that to a separate post.

Esta conjuntivitis ....

Y nosotros nuevamente de malas.... esta vez fue la conjuntivitis que primero le pegó a Mateo y luego a mí. Esta es una experiencia tan molestosa y desesperante más por mi pobre chiquis que amanecía con sus ojitos pegados y no podía abrirlos hasta que mami se los limpiaba con agua de manzanilla. El tratamiento recetado por su pediatra fue darle masajes en el lagrimal de cada ojo por dos minutos, luego limpiarle con gasas humdecidas en agua de manzanilla (ya que no tiene alergia a esta planta) y por último aplicarle las gotas de Oftabiotic, tres veces al día durante ocho días, y esto fue duro porque era una verdadera guerra con el terremoto para que se deje curar.

En fín, la mejora fue lenta pero ahora se puede decir que está recuperado, aunque por ahi todavía lagrimea un poco; gracias a Dios no se le llegaron a enrojecer tanto sus ojitos, en cambio a mami si especialmente el izquierdo. Lo peor es la situación del contagio mutuo pero ya todo está pasando y esperemos que no vuelva más.

Aquí les comento algo más sobre la dichosa conjuntivitis que ojalá no les pegue a ninguno de ustedes, peor a sus bebés.

Qué es la conjuntivitis?

La conjuntivitis es la inflamación de la conjuntiva, que es una envoltura del ojo.

Como la conjuntiva sirve para proteger a los ojos, se puede inflamar o irritar por muchas causas: Infección por bacterias o virus, contacto con sustancias irritantes (polvo, humo, contaminación...)o alergia

¿Cómo se manifiestan?

Cuando la conjuntiva está inflamada se ve el ojo enrojecido.

Se pueden distinguir pequeñas venitas en la parte blanca del ojo y al volver el párpado inferior, éste está más rojo de lo habitual.

En general, los bebés se frotan los ojos porque les pica y quizá les molesta la luz.

Es muy probable que les lloren los ojos pues la irritación estimula la producción de lágrimas.

Puede haber secreciones (legañas) de distinto color, sobre todo cuando es por bacterias.


¿Qué tenemos que hacer?

Conviene limpiar los ojos suavemente con una gasita empapada en agua hervida o suero salino fisiológico.

Conviene usar una gasa distinta para cada ojo y realizar el movimiento de dentro a fuera (de la nariz a la sien).

Un ligero masaje en la zona del ojo más cercana a la nariz contribuye a vaciar las secreciones que se acumulan en el conducto lagrimal. Y también a que éste se desarrolle mejor.

Si pasados un par de días, el bebé sigue molesto, conviene consultar al pediatra. Quizá le alivie una pomada ocular o un colirio antibiótico.
