beauty.

Beauty found her dreams so interesting that she was in no hurry to awake,
but presently the clock roused her by calling her name softly twelve times,

And then she got up and found her dressing-table
set out with everything she could possibly want;
and when her toilet was finished she found dinner was waiting in the room next to hers.

But dinner does not take very long when you are all by yourself.

And very soon she sat down cosily in the corner of a sofa,
and began to think about the charming Prince she had seen in her dream.

'He said I could make him happy,' said Beauty to herself.
'It seems, then, that this horrible Beast keeps him a prisoner.
How can I set him free?
I wonder why they bother told me not to trust appearances?

I don't understand it.
But, after all, it was only a dream, so why should I trouble myself about it?
I had better go and find something to do to amuse myself.'

So she got up and began to explore some of the many rooms of the palace.
The first she entered was lined with mirrors,
and Beauty saw herself reflected on every side,
and she thought she had never seen such a charming room.

Then a bracelet which was hanging from a chandelier caught her eye,
and on taking it down she was greatly surprised to find that it held a portrait of her unknown admirer,
just as she had seen him in her dream.

With great delight she slipped the bracelet on her arm,
and went on into a gallery of pictures, where she soon found a portrait of the same handsome Prince, as large as life,
and so well painted that as she studied it

He seemed to smile kindly at her."

Sadly, not my best post. At least, that's what I think. I'm just so busy and tired, which is not really that much of an excuse, but I wanted to post something, just to let you guys know that yes, I'm still alive, and no, I haven't fallen off the surface of the earth. I'm sorry for the lack of posting. I'm trying to cut back on the amount of time I spend on the Internet, so I'm thinking of only posting about 2-3 posts a week. Hope that doesn't disappoint you guys too much...

Anyway...I got the inspiration for this post from the Beauty and the Beast photo spread with Drew Barrymore in Vogue Magazine:

A las puertas de mis 2 años: mis 23 meses


La alegría de la casa está a punto de cumplir sus dos añitos; cada minuto de su vida lo vive con entusiasmo y toda la energía que desborda; pues es común verlo corretear todo el día por la casa, es capaz de hacer muchas actividades seguidas a la vez y jamás se cansa. Y aunque a veces extrañamos a nuestro bebito, somos felices viendo cómo se ha convertido en un lindo nino que nos alegra la vida con sus travesuras, sus juegos y sus bailes.

El desarrollo de nuestro terremoto va acorde a lo indicado en Planeta mamá:

El niño ya presenta habilidades manuales y dactilares que le permiten realizar tareas cada vez más complejas:

* Construye torres de 4 o más bloques.
* Puede llegar a utilizar una mano con mayor frecuencia que la otra.
* Vacía contenedores dándolos vuelta.
* Garabatea.

Mateo es fanático de los legos, le gusta armar torres cada vez más altas y transportar sus juguetes en su carrito; de igual manera disfruta mucho garabateando con los crayones en hojas y cuadernos (al igual que puertas y paredes); y como ya está recibiendo sus clases anda muy entusiasmado cargando su mochila en la espalda, incluso cuando salimos a la calle no se quiere despegar de ella.

En cuanto a la salud, se aconseja tener cuidado con las bebidas y jugos que le damos a los niños ya que, el consumo en exceso de bebidas de elaboración industrial, es decir, más de 350 ml por día (tres vasos), a veces se convierte en una fuente de trastornos para la salud de los niños ya que, en relación con los distintos ingredientes que contienen, pueden ocasionar:

* Mayor riesgo de sufrir caries y erosión dental.
* Trastornos nutricionales como la obesidad o el bajo peso.
* Alteración en el crecimiento de la talla (menor estatura a la determinada por su potencial genético).
* Diarrea.
* Dolores abdominales.
* Gastritis.
* Trastornos en la absorción de calcio.
* Irritabilidad y trastornos de la conducta e insomnio.
* Urticarias y otras alergias.

Es importante reforzar y sostener el hábito de beber agua para la sed en los primeros años de vida. Si se le ofrece jugo de frutas u hortalizas es conveniente exprimirlo en casa, con un cuidadoso lavado previo. Mejor aún es ofrecerle la fruta entera más o menos cortada o triturada según edad. Poner en práctica estas recomendaciones favorecerá la adquisición de buenos hábitos alimentarios y de bebida con beneficios en la salud y en la economía familiar.

Wow, I have so many things to say today, so without further ado, here I go:

I have been tagged by Marisa, one of my favorite blogs to do the ol' 4th folder, 4th picture thing. I've done this tag before, and I think every other person in the blogosphere has too, so I'm going to make up a new one. You have to make a poem that incorporates a word that starts with the second letter of your last name. Like, the second letter of my last name is O, so I will now come up with a short poem that incorporates a word that starts with O.

1. When I floss my teeth, I start from the middle and work my way out on either side of my mouth. I know, weird, right? I've been doing that as long as I can remember, though.

2. I never stir my hot chocolate-I actually like the chunks of wet powder. Anyone else? Nope? Only me? Okay, just me, I guess.

3. I am currently obsessed with collecting old, vintage books, like these:



They are so much more interesting than the brand-new paperbacks that line the shelves of Borders today.

4. I am intrigued by old buildings that seem to tell a story of their own, like this one:



I often wonder, if building like these could talk, what kinds of things would they tell us?

5. I've grown up with dogs all my life. Here is a picture of Aubrey, one of the dogs I own now:

6. Everyday I try to do something new. It keeps me refreshed.

7. I prefer writing in pencil rather than pen. I think it makes my handwriting look better and neater. Most other people I know use mostly pen.

8. When I was a kid, maybe about four-ish, I thought that people were either born with bangs or without them.

9. I have always had some sort of journal since I was five.

10. Someday, I want to be able to take beautiful photos like the ones I post in my blog.

A few nights ago, I watched Chocolat for the first time. And yes, I know, I'm probably the last person on the face of the earth to finally see it. My favorite scene is when Vianne tells Anouk the story of her grandmother. The whole setting in that little town is so magical. It's like a modern-day fairy tale. I am currently in a love affair with this video clip. I could watch it for hours! Isn't the music just beautiful?
