Artwork for my room.

Artwork for my room.
I'll admit it: (and i'm ashamed to say...) my walls are bare. Bland, boring, blah, bare. And they have been bare since I painted them last October. In another life, I'd be a good enough illustrator/have enough time to make original artwork specifically for my room. But I'm not. So over the weekend, I started putting together a collection of artwork I'd love to use to decorate my room. I think I need to get on 'Project Decorate Room' pronto. Do you have any favorite artists? Do share!

Well folks, it's raining, it's pouring, and the old man may possibly be snoring. (my dog is snoring right now. does that count?) And I'm kind of excited because it hasn't rained much all winter. (aside from taking the dog for a walk in the rain. that's no fun). Today is a self-proclaimed get-stuff-done-day. Rainy days are good for that. What are you up to today?

Nothing is putting me in a better mood this Wednesday more than the fact that it's Wednesday (hump day!) and Amy Borrell's whimsical illustrations. As a side note, can you BELIEVE it's February already?

Fancy teapots

I've talked about flowery tea and floral teacups before, so why not talk about fancy teapots? Besides, I feel like teapots get little recognition compared to teacups, anyway. Personally, my teapot is nothing to rave about as far as looks, and I believe I will have to do something about that soon. Here are my recent teapot findings...

As a fan of any sort of bunting, I love these little cake buntings made by Dawn at Kiki La Ru. Such a cheery and easy way to dress up a cake. If you're feeling crafty, she also makes DIY cake bunting kits.

Last Friday, I went to my friend Lisa Congdon's book signing at The Curiosity Shoppe in SF. The Collection a Day book is just as lovely in person as online and I am really really happy to have it sitting on my bookshelf now.

After seeing this tutorial on teacup candles, I've been dying to make them for the longest time. I finally got the opportunity to with my friend Carly and they came out so cute and they are so easy to make. This craft is definitely a keeper.

I think paper maché is one of the most underrated crafts of our day. I remember doing it in like... kindergarten, but I haven't since. Now, I have a renewed interest in paper maché after seeing these crazy wonderful creations. My favorite is the teacup and saucer made from pages of a book. Sooo cute I could melt.

My finished plate.

Remember last week when I painted a plate at Color Me Mine for a friend? Well, I picked that plate up last weekend, after they fired it in the kiln and here it is! The colors always settle darker after being fired in the kiln.

And with that, I leave you with my slightly deranged dog. (in her defense, this was taken right after we went for a run, so she was a wee bit tired)

DIY snow globes

DIY snow globes
I've been scheming up a new craft project to do, when I found this snow globe DIY on Martha Stewart, found via the Free People blog. And they seem pretty easy to make!
DIY snow globes
"Fill the jar almost to the top with distilled water; add a pinch of glitter and a dash of glycerin (available at drugstores) to keep the glitter from falling too quickly. Don't add too much, or the glitter will stick to the bottom of the jar when it's flipped. Screw on the lid tightly, being careful not to dislodge the figurine. Turn the jar over and back again -- and let it snow!"
